Transport Office Contacts in Nepal: Every Licence Office, Its Website and How to Reach It

Searching for "DOTM Chabahil contact number" and finding nothing useful is a common experience, and there is a reason for it. Most transport offices in Nepal do not publish a phone number on their own website. Some do not have a working website at all.

What almost all of them do have is an email address and a notice page — and the notice page is usually more useful than the phone, because it is where your exam date, your trial list and your result actually appear.

This page maps what exists, office by office, and tells you which route works for which problem.

Office phone numbers, from the offices themselves

Every number and address below was read off the office's own website, not a business directory. Each of these sites showed a last-updated date of the day they were checked, so they are actively maintained.

"Not published" means the office does not show a number on its own site, not that it was left out.

Hetauda splits its email by function, which is genuinely useful if your question is specific:

Two sets of office websites, both real

This confuses people, so it is worth being clear.

Offices appear under two different domains, and both work:

• <code>.dotm.gov.np — the department's own office sites, like ktmlc2.dotm.gov.np for Chabahil. These are where the published phone numbers are.
• <place>license.bagamati.gov.np and similar — province-run office sites, created when licence administration moved to the provinces on Shrawan 1, 2083.

Neither replaced the other. If one is slow or does not load, try the other for the same office.

One caution about these sites: they are large and slow. Individual pages run to several megabytes, so a page can take twenty or thirty seconds on a weak connection. That is not the site being down. Give it time before giving up.

The address that really is gone

One old address genuinely does not work, and it is the one most guides still name:

applydl.dotm.gov.np       does not respond at all

It does not return an error page — the connection never completes. Applications moved to the province eDLVRS portals. What changed and why.

Your province, if you are not in Bagmati

Every province runs its own portal, and that portal is the correct starting point for contacts in that province. It stays current when an office moves; a copied phone list does not.

Bagmati is spelled bagamati, with an extra "a".

The department itself

For anything national — the smart card, print lists, or a complaint that your office cannot resolve.

DOTM is not the right first call about your individual application any more. Since Shrawan 2083 that is your province's business.

Which route to use for which problem

Phoning is often the slowest option. Match the route to the question.

Your office publishes your results

Chabahil, Ekantakuna, Hetauda and Bharatpur all post exam material directly on their own websites. What you will find there, in Nepali:

• लिखित परीक्षाको नतिजा — the written exam result
• लिखित परीक्षामा उत्तिर्ण (A, B र K वर्ग) — the pass list by class
• ट्रायल परीक्षाका परीक्षार्थीहरुको नामावली — the trial candidate name list, published per class and per date

Before you phone or email

Have this ready and you will get a useful answer first time:

• Your application or reference number
• Your licence number, if you already hold one, as XX-XX-XXXXXXXX
• Your category — A, K or B
• The date you applied or sat the exam
• A clear, specific question. "What is my status" is hard to answer; "my trial was on Shrawan 7, class B, I have not seen a result" is easy

Write in Nepali if you can. It is not required, but it is faster.

Going in person

Sometimes the office visit is unavoidable. Make it count.

• Go early. Counters open at 9 AM and queues build fast. Mid-morning on a Sunday, right after the weekend, is the worst time in most offices.
• Check the notice board before you queue. Half the questions people wait an hour to ask are answered on the board by the door.
• Take originals. Citizenship original, not a photocopy. Your existing licence too, if this is a renewal, duplicate or category add.
• Take your application printout. The reference number is what any counter will ask for first.
• Do not go on a public holiday. Offices work Sunday to Friday and close on government holidays, of which Nepal has many.

Also worth knowing: the office you applied at is the one holding your file. You cannot usually collect a card or resolve a query at a different office just because it is closer.

If nothing is moving

A rough escalation order, with realistic waits attached:

1. Wait one more print cycle. Cards are printed and published in batches every two to four weeks. Most "stuck" applications are not stuck.
2. Check your details. A misspelled name, wrong date of birth or missing blood group will hold a record without anyone telling you.
3. Email your office. Include your reference number, category and dates.
4. Go in person with your originals.
5. Email gunaso@dotm.gov.np as a complaint, with what you have already tried and when.

Skipping to step 5 first rarely helps, because the department will route it back to the province office anyway.

• Trusting a phone number from a blog. Office numbers get reassigned. Check the office's own site or the DOTM directory.
• Calling DOTM about your own application. It is provincial now.
• Assuming no phone number means no contact. Most offices answer email, and most publish everything you need on their notice page anyway.
• Using an old dotm.gov.np office subdomain. They are gone.
• Phoning to ask a question the website already answers. Exam dates, results and trial lists are all published.

Use the waiting time

Most people reading this are waiting for something: a date, a result, a card. That waiting time is the best free preparation window you get, and the written exam is the part you can fully control.
